A viable option for homeowners and businesses especially with "existing" lawns is "plowing" in black poly pipe for your underground sprinkler system lines which causes very little ground disturbance. The only open trenches or holes that would be created is at connections(elbows,tees,etc) and sprinkler heads. This type of pipe is closely similar to the pipe the local gas co. plows in for service lines and some gas mains. Although the poly pipe material is a little more expensive than pvc pipe material, in the end usually the total cost of the sprinkler system is less when using black poly due to less labor to install it.
